The 2tall story starts where the high street ends. Literally. I reached 6 foot at age 10, and grew out of high street sizes shortly after that. Buying big and tall was my only option by the time I was a teenager. And it sucked.

And that was pretty much my life until 2010, when I ended up on a random night out with another guy my height, and we spent a whole evening speaking about our tall people problems. It was the first time I’d really ever spoke to someone else about it, and this was the conversation that convinced me that the time was now to do something about it.

In 2011 I started speaking to sales agents and manufacturers, many of who seemed reluctant to help, and told me that “people have tried before and failed” , that “there wasn’t a big enough market for it” and even “why would tall guys want slim fit jeans”.  Initially I just had to accept the products I was getting offered just to get started, but this gave me an opportunity to get to know suppliers who could make the products I wanted.

Determined, in 2013 I launched the site, with a small initial range, including our first 2tall products like joggers and t-shirts. I knew how to run an online store, but no knowledge of the clothing industry beyond my own lived experience as a tall guy….

I’d met Andy in about 2011 when he was a student who worked part time at Frankie and Benny’s (it’s an Italian restaurant chain for people who are not in the UK) and he started to get involved in the business. He was the guy who modelled all the product photos (and still does to this day) and he’d come and visit me at the original 2THQ each week. In time he started helping out when it got busy, and after he graduated, he started full time, becoming a director in 2015.

"Making something in tall is one thing. Understanding tall is very different"

In 2023 we celebrated our 10th birthday, and it would be fair to say we’ve come a long way. What was originally planned to be a little project has grown way beyond our wildest dreams, shipping orders to tall guys all over the world, getting endorsements from some of the most well know tall men on the planet like Peter Crouch, and becoming good friends with so many people because we share something in common.

I think it’s because we’re actually owned and operated by tall guys, that we get the unique problems that guys like us face, and only tall guys understand, which is why we’re trying to doing something better about it.
